Sometimes skepticism gets in the way of everyone’s enjoyment. This idea occupies the same flavor territory as “ignorance is bliss.” It is a vote for the willful flooding of the brain with seratonin and other happiness-inducing substances, something that often happens when we turn off the internal mechanisms that regulate intellect in favor of turning on, say, G4′s late night programming.

Discovery's Michael Jackson Autopsy Special Raises Ire, Writer Aron Abrams Dies at 50 and More
Filed under: TV News
Discovery Communication's planned UK special, 'Michael Jackson: L'Autopsie,' has angered the co-executors of Michael Jackson's estate. The European program set to air Jan. 13 will reportedly feature a recreation of Jackson's autopsy. According to the Wall Street Journal, Jackson estate co-executors John Branca and John McClain have called for Discovery to pull the special before broadcast.
"Your decision to even schedule this program is in shockingly bad taste, insensitive to Michael's family, and appears motivated solely by your blind desire to exploit Michael's death, while cynically attempting to dupe the public into believing this show will have some serious medical value," the two wrote in a letter to Discovery.

Examining Celebrity Rehab 4 With Dr. Drew - Episode 6
In group, when Rachel talked about parents choosing drugs over kids, you seemed hesitant to agree with her.
It?s not a choice, I think that?s what I was going for. Everyone in that room was guilty of the same thing. Their disease gets in the way of all kinds of things and causes them to do things that hurt other people. There?s no choice involved. Addicts don?t have choices. They use because they?re addicts. It?s not necessarily that they don?t love their children. They love their children, but their biology supersedes them. And behind Rachel?s original sentiment is her saying, ?I?m not lovable enough to have been chosen over drugs.? I think that?s what I was going for: it has nothing to do with how much the addict loved you.
I get that, but it seems like from a practical standpoint, the idea is to get addicts off drugs so that they don?t effectively choose to spend their time with drugs as opposed to spending it with their kids.
The whole idea of choice is antithetical to the concept of addiction. Of course they would choose to spend time with their kids, if they had the ability to choose. They don?t have that ability. Addiction takes that away from them. They use because they?re an addict, not because they don?t love their children or wouldn?t choose to be with their children. Rachel wants to blame [an addict from her childhood], and wants him to be responsible for what he did so that she can feel justified in her anger. But in hanging onto that anger, she?s also justifying to herself her unlovebility ? her inability to be in a genuine relationship and to be worthy of someone caring about her.
I guess all that goes to show that a key part of this process is understanding the truths of addiction, period.
That?s right. What they start doing is going, ?Oh my God, I have the same thing my dad has. I?m the same person as him, making those ?choices.?? When that light bulb goes off, they feel shattered sometimes. We start setting the table for that, too.
Frankie has a withdrawal in this episode that you say has the strangest symptoms you?ve ever seen.
Rather than agitated and irritable and escalated, she becomes withdrawn and sort of unreachable. It?s a very strange fugue state that she goes into. It was very unusual, particularly with the amount of alcohol she was consuming. I was prepared for a seizure to suddenly emerge, because that?s sort of where it goes: they get sick, start feeling bad and then have a seizure.
Was there anything particularly evocative in the Shields for Families trip?
It?s always so intense when we go there and listen to those kids. Frankie felt very connected and supported by this. There were several women there, mothers who were a lot like Frankie, and it was good for Frankie to see them in recovery and for them to reach out to her. They continued to call her all throughout treatment. It was a very important, relatable source for her. At times, Frankie would say, ?You can?t relate to my life and my culture. There?s not enough people here from my background.? I felt bad for her for that. I agreed with her, and whenever that happens, I become deeply, deeply concerned. So this helped bridge some of that.
It seems ironic, though given her exploits it maybe isn?t at all, but it?s at least strange that Frankie is known for being a mother, and yet she has this history of drugs getting in the way of her mothering.
Let?s leave that at there?s more to be revealed, as far as what Frankie was dealing with when she was doing the so-called ?bad mothering.? Wait till you hear the stories, I hope they make it on the show. Unbelievable situation.
You met with Eric?s stepson/former drug buddy, but that didn?t result in a meeting between him and Eric. Why not?
I wasn?t ready, and I was still trying to figure out what we were doing there: what the point was, what the goals were. I just was still trying to figure out what we were going to do.
The final point of the episode involves interference Jason Davis was getting from his friends regarding continuing his treatment. There?s a very strange situation where they go to pick him up, he leaves the center and they pull away before he can enter the car.
That?s actually what happened.
That?s so weird.
Well, if you knew his friends (laughs). It was serendipity. And the police came.
Does stuff like this make you wish the patients had zero access to their cell phones?
Well, sure. It would make life easier. But I have a certain obligation to give them the capacity to communicate with the outside world. Some places don?t do that, but hospitals have to give certain privileges. By the way, we have to deal with those friends anyway eventually, so what the heck.

Trust Pamela Anderson to brave the Arctic like conditions dressed like this?
We never really had Pamela Anderson down as the kind of gal to don a sturdy mac and a pair of thermal socks when it?s cold and pelting it down with rain outside.
Which is why we weren?t at all surprised when Pammie ventured out in Liverpool last night (for the Paul McCartney gig), where it was minus eight, wearing just a small faux fur jacket paired with some peep toe heels. Well, she probably is the only person left in Liverpool with a natural tan at the moment, she might as well show it off?

Let's Watch Our Favorite TV Stars Play 'The Larry King Game'
Luckily, there's a fun way to pass the time, honor Larry King's passing (...out of the cable world) and say hi to some of your favorite TV stars: "The Larry King Game"!
A little context: Kevin Pollak (host of Million Dollar Money Drop) is also the host of "The Kevin Pollak Chat Show," and he has a tradition with his celebrity guests called "The Larry King Game," in which they do an impression of Larry King. That usually means at least three things: Leaning over and doing the husky Larry King voice, making up a gross or weird anecdote (usually about being really old), and then "taking a call" from a weird-sounding town.
It's really funny. It's also an ART. And so many of our favorite TV stars have done it! Check out some of my favorites, and let them bring out the King in you:

Could '16 and Pregnant' Help Prevent Teen Pregnancy?
One of the biggest criticisms from opponents of MTV's docu-series '16 and Pregnant,' which follows high school-age girls as they prepare to become mothers, is that it glamorizes teen pregnancy. But according to a new theory from the Christian Science Monitor, the show is actually doing the exact opposite.A new report from the National Campaign notes that although teens view parental influence as the number one factor in preventing teen pregnancy, an astonishing 82 percent say '16 and Pregnant' "helps them better understand the challenges of teen pregnancy and parenthood -- and why they should avoid it."
"Entertainment media is one of the nation's favorite punching bags, but we have to acknowledge that when we're talking about teen pregnancies media can be and often is a force for good," said Bill Albert, a spokesman for the National Campaign.

Charlize Theron Emmanuelle Chriqu Randy Jackson Joaquin Phoenix
The Celebreality Interview - Laura Baron On You?re Cut Off! Season 2
Basically, I want to know in general how the season was for you. Was it more intense than the first? Less intense? Compare and contrast, if you would.
From a team perspective, it was more intense in that the entire production team understood ? and I experience this in my daily world — but we all understood the kind of impact we can make on these girls? lives. In the beginning, we believed it. After the first season, we saw it. It’s hard for me to say because I believe that the success of this show is steeped in our Season 1 girls being able to give like they did. So it?s very difficult for me to compare because the Season 1 girls gave us the platform for this. That said, the Season 2 girls gave on a level and came in on a level that did have a different intensity. They allowed us in much sooner, and as a result, it felt more intense.
Is it possible to compare and contrast the two groups of girls?
I think Season 2 was much more individualized. It is very clear that each girl brought their own separate bucket of challenges. The girls were responsive and reacted to each other, but there was definitely an understanding that individually they really wanted to own this process and that they really understood from a very individual and personal journey what this was going to mean. In Season 1 that definitely happened for them, but I think you felt more of the group moving and growing, whereas here, you saw sparks of each individual moving and growing at very different times.
I assume that at least some of them have been aware of the show or at least seen the first season.
Well, yes. The first day that I walked in, I was very aware that these girls had the potential of understanding what this program was about. And if they hadn?t seen the program, it didn?t take them long to understand how intense it actually was. And every girl that I had talked to since has admitted that in the beginning as Season 1 girls didn?t take it seriously, they didn?t feel like they were going to be cut off, and yet there was a moment. And they each had different moments. Their timing was very different and I think that is really the key difference between the two seasons. It really is that Season 1 had more a group thing to it and you saw a different dynamic. You saw growth with people in different times and different ways. Here it?s all individual.
Is that to say that there is a lot of discord between the group? Is there a lot of cattiness or fighting, even?
Because it?s such an individual process for them, I think the girls are challenged to make a stand in the house and have their voice heard. They don?t have their natural tools to distract them.
I know that you?re obviously, extremely invested in the process, and I also know that you watch this show very avidly. Is there any kind of cognitive dissonance in your appreciation of this show? So much of the entertainment value comes from watching these women act out and seeing the entitled princess get her comeuppance.
I not only recognize but appreciate their bold personalities. I love their sense of humor, I love the flavor that they bring and I appreciate that. I don?t mind when somebody comes back at me. I don?t mind when somebody comes back at somebody else. What that means is that they are moving forward, that they are thinking this through, that they are growing on some level. It?s not always in the direction that I want, but you often have to take a step back to move forward. And I love the humor that they bring with it. If you can?t have humor in your own journey, there?s very little value to it because you?re not going to stick with it. So as a TV show, I?m grateful that these girls do have such a way of expressing themselves. I also think it?s helpful for the audience. We can all relate to what these girls are saying. We might not want to say it in the same way, but that?s what makes them beautiful. They?re willing to be bold and they?re willing to be raw. Watching these girls is cathartic. And that?s the truth for the girls too: the girls see themselves and it?s a really phenomenal opportunity for them to reevaluate how they?re communicating.
Obviously part of the reason that they?re cast on the show is because of their difficult personalities. I know you came up against some direct insults in Season 1, particularly from Chrissy. Does that ever offend you personally, regardless of your expectations?
I am not superhuman and I would never claim to be. I don?t know if I would say that it?s offensive, because I know it?s a defense mechanism and I know they are stopping and impeding their own growth and their own process. What saddens me is that there?s only so much that I am willing to take and there is only so much that the group should have to take. Because in the end, it?s not gonna do anybody good. And if they?re not willing to own their stuff, I?m not gonna do their work for them, and that?s really the bottom line. If they’re not willing to work it, and they?re not willing to be respectful of the process, then I?m not going to allow one girl?s drama to kill the potential. And P.S. - more than anything personal, because I don?t take it personal, I don?t value that communication. I expect better, period. I think that?s what a lot of these girls are missing: strong expectations in their lives.
I wondered if we could go through the new girls and have you give me your first impressions of them. Aimee comes first alphabetically.
I think she is quintessential hard-shell, soft-heart.
How about Hana?
When I first got her, she was really guarded but excessively determined.
How about Jenn?
Let?s say fiery? That?s fun. And she gets it. She?s savvy, that?s what it is.
How about Jessica?
She is deeper than she gives you upfront. I knew that from the start.
What about Lauren?
She feels ready to launch. It seems as though she?s self-confined. She held back, she felt like she was behind a wall but she was ready. You could tell that she was.
Marcy is next.
She was such an interesting combination. I think she was self-assured yet vulnerable.
Nadia.
I already used vulnerable with Marcy…Nadia was brave but ironically delicate, yeah.
And finally Shakyra.
Limited is not the word but she was unreachable.
Is there anything else you can offer by way of a preview? Just what people should expect overall from the season?
I think that these girls really show that you can?t judge anybody by your first impression and that everybody deserves an opportunity to show who they really are. I think the greatest part about this season is that when you set expectations and you set boundaries, people rise to the occasion. It?s not always an easy task, but there?s always a reward.

Chris Brown Completes Domestic Violence Course, Tweets Diploma and Inspiring Message
Critics will nitpick everything he does, but Chris Brown has been nothing but a model citizen since his February 2009 arrest for assault on Rihanna.
That said, this Twitter pic of the certificate he got for completing a court-mandated 52-week domestic violence course is sure to elicit reactions.
The only question in our mind: Frame it or put it on the fridge?
Chris Brown remains on probation until 2014.
As if anticipating the obligatory "why post this when it's a reminder of the crap you did to end up in the program to begin with" question, he writes:
"i have enough self respect and decency to be proud of accomplishing this DV class.. Boyz run from there mistakes.. Men learn from them!!! thx"
Even more inspirational than these Kenny Powers quotes. Simply moving.
In all seriousness, good for him for moving on and putting his best foot forward. There will be skeptics, always, but his actions are doing the talking.
Day 6: Fox Still Wily. ?Idol? Judge Watch Continues.
Monday was the day. It was really supposed to happen. Honest, and for reals! Many of us thought — nay, hoped — Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice and Entertainment President Kevin Reilly were going to announce the new judges for “American Idol,” putting to rest all of the speculative burbling in the trades through the weekend.
Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, seated side by side at the judges table, delivering scathing critiques from behind gigantic Coca Cola cups! Can’t you just see it?
Granted, we are not six-year-olds on Christmas morning, convinced that behind that soft, wrapped package of tube socks our parents have hidden a rocket ship. We cover television…

'My Strange Addiction' Preview: Eating Toilet Paper, Sleeping With Appliances and More
Filed under: TV Previews
TLC is no stranger to absurd shows that are often more spectacle than substance. Will 'My Strange Addiction' (Wed., Dec. 29 at 9PM) be any different?'My Strange Addiction' tells the tales of those compelled to do weird stuff. A woman eats toilet paper. Another sleeps with her blowdryer. One woman eats laundry detergent. "It's my dirty secret," a voiceover says in the promo for the new series.
Each episode of the 12-part series will only be a half hour. Will it be enough time to get to know the people behind the addiction? Check out the trailer below.

Cheryl Cole says she?s still single as she heads for a night out with her mum?
Well it looks like Cheryl?s alleged romantic holiday with Derek Hough is off the cards if her latest comments are anything to go by.
While on Alan Carr?s chatshow (the interview from which will be screened on Channel 4 tomorrow night) Chezza said that she has ?no time? for a boyfriend, she added: ?a lady doesn't talk about these things." What is this, 1908 or something?
Cheryl was however slightly more willing to talk about those X Factor USA rumours, and despite what everyone?s been saying it seems as though her role on the show has been far from cemented. She said:
?There have been conversations (about X Factor USA) but who knows what will happen. I had such a mind full of stuff to deal with before last Sunday?s final. I have had no time to get my head round anything.
?Moving to the States is such a life-changing thing that I need time to sit down and think what I want to do.?
And as she ponders her future in sunny California, Cheryl stepped out in a freezing cold London on Friday night wearing a flimsy looking silk jumpsuit as she had dinner at Nobu with her mum and her pal Nicola Roberts.

A Football Husband Blogs Back: Ryan Neufeld On Football Wives
(And speaking of husbands, were you aware that Erin’s man, Matt McBriar is leading the NFL in punting? The more you know!)
Ryan’s thoughts are below…
I?ve been keeping up with Dawn?s blog and have really enjoyed how well she?s been explaining the way certain situations took place on Football Wives. I can?t help but notice some of the negative feedback she?s been getting from the blog. In particular, there have been several comments that Dawn embarrassed me by being so open about our financial situation. I can tell everyone that my wife did nothing to embarrass me on the show. I appreciate her being so real. People have talked about her on the stripper pole on the boat. I was there and didn?t have a problem with it. I enjoyed watching the ladies relax and have a good time. They deserved it after all the stress and work in shooting the show.
Before Dawn agreed to take part in the show, we had a discussion about our ?reality.? We agreed that we were going to make sure that this reality show would actually live up to its name and that we would be open and honest. I certainly don?t have any problem with what has been aired on the program. Having financial difficulties is the reality of millions of Americans around the country right now. We are by no means immune to the struggling economy because I played football. My last year in the NFL was in 2007 and for 3 years we have been living off of what I made. I left the NFL when the economy started to decline so even though I looked for a job, it was difficult for me to find employment that allowed flexibility for me to continue playing football if the opportunity arose.
I was 12 when I started playing football. I fell in love with the sport immediately and knew I wanted to play at the highest level. I excelled in the sport pretty quickly. All through little league and high school I was praised by friends, teachers, faculty, adults in the community, local news paper, etc. Every day I would do whatever was necessary for me to get better and continue to the next level. It took a lot of hard work to get me from little league, to Junior Varsity, to making Varsity as a Sophomore, to getting a full scholarship to UCLA, to finally making it in the NFL and playing 7 years (four more than the average career). I was never a superstar player but I did my job and did it well. I can leave the sport knowing that I truly accomplished something, even without a lot of fame and fortune.
The 20 years I played football, every single minute of every day was planned out for me and my life revolved around the game. Obviously during the season a lot of time is required. During the offseason, I would have surgery and/or rehab the injuries I sustained during the season, then I?d start training to get ready for the upcoming season. In the NFL there are coaching sessions, mini-camps, organized team activities (which are more practices), then I?d get a few weeks off before going to training camp. Being a pro-football player is a full-time, year-round profession. As players, we get so used to people telling us what to do, where to be, how high to jump, how many yards to run. When that stops, it is hard to establish a life and routine after football.
Most of my life, I chased a dream, and that was to be a pro ball player. Now, at 35, I have to start from scratch to find a career. Dawn and I recently had a conversation and I made a comment that I wish I hadn?t played in the NFL and gone right into a career after college like many of my old college teammates who have good, steady careers now. That way we might not be in situation we?re in. Dawn said something to me that was on point: ?Then you are questioning God?s plan.? She is exactly right. I don?t regret playing. It was a great experience and I am proud to have played in the NFL. I know many people dream to be able to say that and can?t. I don?t take for granted how lucky I was. Hindsight is 20-20 and looking back, there are things I?d change, maybe manage our money a little better. But I have no regrets.
Our situation now ?is what it is,? and I am in no way embarrassed by it and I?m glad we?ve been able to show people what a majority of professional football players experience in real life. It is a trial in our lives that we are going through and I am 100% confident that God will bring us out of it. Why would I be embarrassed of that? If anything, we have more people praying for us now. I am sure He has something to teach us during this time, and when we persevere, Dawn and I will be stronger as husband and wife, and as individuals. Until then we are going to hold our heads up high and keep moving forward.

You?re Cut Off! Season 2 Premieres January 10 On VH1
What happens when eight spoiled brats are torn away from their never-ending cash flow, benefactors and perfect, stress-free life? Season 2 of You?re Cut Off! premiering Monday, January 10 at 9 PM ET/PT is giving viewers another opportunity to get a fly on the wall look as life coach Laura Baron returns to strip eight women from their posh lifestyles and help them become self-sufficient, confident adults. These women will be forced to live together as they go through spoiled rotten rehab and complete simple tasks such as cleaning up the kitchen, shopping on a budget, and working with charities - but can these spoiled girls make it all the way to their graduation day?
Falling for the ruse that they?re off to star in the new hit reality show The Search for the Next ?It? Girl, these ladies are shocked to find that their credit cards have been canceled and their rich benefactors have cut them off. Now these spoiled princesses will have to learn to live like the rest of us. Unaccustomed to the idea of a budget or the use of a dust pan, the girls of Season 2 may find that that the basic challenges that ?normal? people face are just too tough for their manicured hands. Season 2?s cast consists of eight exceptionally spoiled ladies who must participate in Laura Baron?s program whether they like it or not ? which isn?t for a girl that has always called the shots. This season we?ll meet:
? LAUREN, 25 - Nashville, TN - Lauren is the self-proclaimed ?HBBQ: Has Been Beauty Queen.? She was crowned Miss Tennessee 2006 and competed in Miss USA 2006. While her parents pay for her rent and her lifestyle, Lauren dreams of being the President?s wife.
? JESSICA, 23 -Lauderdale-By-The Sea, FL ? When Jessica is not driving around in her customized Mercedes, she?s shopping for $20,000 dollar dresses. She?s known as the Palm Beach socialite and is used to a life of excess.
? HANA, 28 - Hollywood, CA ? Hana is an LA socialite who is used to the VIP treatment. It takes a staff to support her sheltered life, from stylists to assistants to drivers to even bodyguards.
? NADIA, 21 - Katy, TX ? Nadia?s parents own a chain of high-end day spas, which Nadia is quick to claim as her own. Since somebody else is always there to take care of her baby daughter, Nadia spends her free time getting pampered at the spa and partying at night.
? MARCY, 26 - Buena Park, CA ? A self described plus-sized princess, Marcy is an only child who lives at home with her parents. She spends her free time shopping, counting her Louis Vuittons, and yelling at her trainer.
? AIMEE, 27 - Houston, TX ? Aimee lives by the motto: ?Do not do for yourself what others can do for you.? She still lives with her mother who sacrifices her own vacation time because Aimee demands a trip every few months.
? JENN, 28 - West Hollywood, CA ? Jenn lives a pampered life supported by her parents. When she?s not flying to her family?s other homes in Florida, Las Vegas, or Washington, D.C., Jenn spends much of her time poolside, getting a tan, or at the plastic surgeon?s office.
? SHAKYRA, 25 ? Brooklyn, NY ? Shakyra?s friends nicknamed her ?Vanity? because she begins each day by talking to herself in the mirror. She just moved in with her boyfriend who showers her with designer clothes and vacations while she works on spending his cash.
With this new cast comes new tasks, fresh cat fights, and more lessons learned…at least we hope. The first season showed us that some girls just couldn?t take the heat when asked to lift a finger, so find out who passes and who fails the test of humility and hard work in Season 2 of You?re Cut Off!
Viewers can catch a sneak peek of the season?s first episode on VH1.com the week before it premieres on air. Subsequent episodes will be available on VH1.com the morning after they air. Additional video content from You?re Cut Off! including bonus scenes and exclusive extras from each episode will be available on VH1.com and on VH1 Mobile throughout the season.
VH1’s You’re Cut Off! is produced by Fly on the Wall Entertainment. Executive producers are Allison Grodner, Rich Meehan, Amy Palmer and Rachel Tung. Executive producers for VH1 are Shelly Tatro, Kari McFarland and Jeff Olde. Warren Cohen serves as Supervising Producer.

Welcome to the latest edition of Ask Mo! Thanks, as always, for your good questions (by the way, one of them, which was about 'Fringe,' was answered here). Let's get started, shall we?From Matt Notley: Are you as excited about 'Game of Thrones' next year as I am?
Mo here: Heck yeah! I've been avidly waiting for each behind-the-scenes featurette, photo and blog post from the 'GoT' team. George R.R. Martin, author of the book series on which the HBO show is based, noted on his Not a Blog that production had recently ended on the first season of the show, and he also said there might be some news on the show in early January (though 'GoT' itself reportedly won't premiere until some time in April).
