Skins Cast Loves Jersey Shore
MTV's new hit series Skins, which follows the lives of a group of high school friends as they take on the many challenges of adolescence, has been getting lots of attention for its depiction of drugs and teen sex. In Touch learns exclusively what the cast has to say about the controversy and their take on our friends at the Jersey Shore.
"The idea of television is to put something out there and create a buzz, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions," says Skins star James Newman. "There has also been a great overflow of positive feedback for every negative thing said... that's what TV is."
While many question whether the show accurately depicts teenagers today, co-star Sofia Black D'Elia says the relationships in the show can be "easily relatable" to any teenager.
"Their modes of thought and just the basic traits of each character are very realistic," she says. "You went to school with all those kids, you know those kids.
"As for what other MTV show the Skins stars can't get enough of each week, actor Daniel Flaherty admits the cast "loves" Jersey Shore.
"The whole cast sort of chats about it post-show. We are all definitely watching it and have been watching it for a while!" he says.
And after news of the recent breakup between Jersey Shore's Sammi Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Daniel says he hopes the two get back together. "I feel like they can work it out. It was just really sad and emotional."
