Soap News: 'Bold and the Beautiful' Cuts Kyle Lowder and More

After four years on CBS's Emmy-winning soap 'The Bold and the Beautiful,' Kyle Lowder is out as Rick. The official word is that Lowder's been taken off contract and will be recurring -- much like Ashley Jones' Bridget and Winsor Harmon's Thorne -- but according to the star, he's looking for a permanent gig elsewhere.

Lowder told Soap Opera Digest, "From my standpoint, it's an amicable situation. Obviously, it's their choice, but at the same time, the story has been slow for over a year and a half, and like any professional in any line of work would do, you prepare yourself for the next step."

The actor, who previously appeared on 'Days of Our Lives' as Brady, could land another soap role, or move on to prime time.

It's too bad 'B&B' stopped writing for him, an inexplicable development considering how front-burner his storyline had been for most of his tenure as Rick.

“Honestly with Flavor Flav, if you know anything about Flavor Flav?s history, you never know what he?s going to do next. You?ll be surprised what he?s going to do next,”� Flavor Flav tells the Clinton Herald regarding the opening of his new fast-food joint, Flav’s Fried Chicken (opening today in Clinton, Iowa). While some might agree that the move from rapper to reality star to restaurateur is unlikely, others might argue that the move is wholly predictable and rooted in stereotypes. For someone who’s been accused of minstrelsy, aligning himself with a brand of fried chicken (or any other stereotypically African American cuisine) is, to put it lightly, not the best look.
But what this really comes down to is a struggle between principle and practice: Flav’s love affair with fried chicken has been well documented (check out the screen shot above from Flavor of Love 2, and think back to when he took Krazy on a date to KFC during that same season). And fried chicken tastes good! People of all colors of the rainbow adore it! But perhaps no amount of tastiness is worth the bitter sensation of racial-stereotype perpetuation. Sometimes you have to think outside the box society puts you in.
It’s a tough call, really. My knee-jerk reaction was second-hand embarrassment, but you know, Flav’s gotta do what he’s gotta do to earn a living. And at least he plans on being a hands-on partner: “I don?t want to be just known to have a spot. You?re going to find me in here working. You?re going to be catching me seasoning my chicken, flouring my chicken, frying up my chicken, and not only that, but serving my chicken to my people,” he says. Celebrity Rehab 4 Star Jason Davis Arrested For Drug Possession

Well, that was quick! Just one night after participating in the Celebrity Rehab 4 live reunion show, Jason Davis was arrested on drug possession charges last night in Newport Beach, CA. As you’ll recall from the Rehab reunion special, the scion to an oil fortune has been living with castmate Jason Wahler in the tony California coastal town since the show wrapped a few months back. TMZ is reporting that Davis is currently being held on $20,000 bail, but there are no further details about what sort of controlled substance he was in possession of.
We spoke to Dr. Drew just yesterday about how the Celebrity Rehab reunion went, and he had this to say about Jason:
“Jason looked good. He seems to be good right now. Janice was insinuating that she?d seen him drinking. I?d heard rumors about that, but none of it was substantiated. He has been in programs, which has been great, but like I said, he scares us because he gets so sick so fast and the medical consequences are so dangerous that there?s no room to spare. He?s just got to be in a structured environment. I?ve not seen him actively participate in any real recovery yet, but I hope that?s to come.”
However, TMZ contacted Dr. Drew when they broke the story of Jason’s arrest and Drew had this to say: “Jason was honest about his struggles with his sobriety on the reunion show. Hopefully, now that there are legal consequences, further treatment will be mandated, which he so desperately needs. As I said when I saw him Wednesday, we care for him very deeply and we are here for him.”

The X Life Recap - Episode 4 - Little Men

Pretty ballsy for a kid who just learned he had balls!

We begin this week?s The X Life with Cory and Nicole debating their upcoming trip to Australia. Cory tells her he?s got an event out there, but really, he?s invited her so he can ask Nicole to marry him. Unfortunately the trip overlaps with Thanksgiving. But Australia?s like 24 hours ahead, so technically they could track back in time and make Thanksgiving at home, no?
Since he can?t tell her why it?s important, she can?t see why it?s important. Nicole’s lack of psychic ability is frustrating for Cory:

?I?m a full-time mom,? she argues. She should quit, this job has horrible benefits! ?You already got my ticket… so there?s no changing my mind, huh?? Nicole says a bit later. Regret and loss of control are the best feelings to start an engagement with, for sure.
The girls all meet up for brunch at Nicole?s. She interviews that she?s excited because they haven?t seen her place before. Susie, in particular, loves Nicole’s new, rustic digs:

They discuss their partners over bagels and fruit. Or rather, over big plates of nothing. After all, you don’t win friends with carbs:

Nicole tells the girls that she?s going to Australia, and Susie is, again, surprised. Denise is surprised that this is a big deal. ?You can bring them back a bunch of crap from Australia,? she says. Of course Denise doesn?t have kids yet, so Nicole discounts her advice immediately. So immediately, that Denise realizes it while she?s giving it.

Susie confesses that she and Jeremy feel more like ?business partners? rather than a married couple. This thought — like many thoughts — brings tears:

She resolves to make some changes when she gets home. She also assures the girls that she just needs to get home and get some sleep and she?ll be herself again. Don’t get her wrong: she?ll still cry and worry a lot, but she?ll be well-rested the whole time.
Back home Susie tells Jeremy that he needs to come up with some ?fun? date plans, and he?s like…

I think he?s thinking, ?Girls are no fun,? or, “Girls don’t like anything rad like bikes or video games or girls.” On the couch she says she?s ?over being his business partner.? Is the romance dead? Jeremy’s loud couchfart means yes. But they both promise to keep Saturday clear.
Cory decides to spend some quality time with his kids before he has to leave. And what?s more quality than digging holes?

Of course these are holes for their next BMX track. He asks his kid what he wants to do when he grows up and he says ?BMX.? The one dad in the world who you?d think would be psyched tells Trey to go to school and use his brain, not his body. I suspect he?ll have this same conversation with his daughter one day.


Trey tries out the track but sits on his testicles a little too much. Cory not only gives his son some good advice on why he shouldn?t crush his testicles, but also experiences some sympathy pains:

Sadly, Trey doesn’t know what testicles are, so they have a father and son talk…about how fathers make sons.
Saturday begins with Susie getting Savy ready for grandma?s, and getting herself ready for her date with Jeremy. Jeremy, however, is on his way to shoot photos for an ad. This doesn?t sit well with Susie.


Jeremy says she?s overreacting, but he?s under-realizing how mad she is. Which is weird, because it?s pretty obvious.

?This won?t break us,? he says. The thing about wiping someone’s ass for a few weeks: they think they can get you to take their crap forever.
Susie calls her mom and says that she?s ?over it,? but — like crying and being Jeremy?s business manager — she clearly is not over it.
By the time Jeremy returns he’s realized how bad breaking their date was. He apologizes to Susie and tries to get her to reschedule, but she’s already made plans. ?It?s not like I just get it, I know,? Jeremy explains. He, at least, is not clueless about being clueless.

Nicole is going out for the night and leaving Cory to spend quality time with his kids. ?Quality? referring to their bonding time, not to the general quality of the evening:


But Cory does teach Trey some very important life skills.

I also like that his sister Londyn applauds his young flirtations:

Sisters are rarely so thrilled watching their brothers hit on girls. Trey should cherish this.
Meanwhile Jeremy decides to make it up to Susie with a home-cooked three-course meal — way smarter than taking her to the Tilted Kilt.

It looks more like a home-cooked two-course meal with a third course from the bakery aisle. Still, a lot of work for someone who’s never cooked before:

Kelly Osbourne: Ex Cheated with Transgender Model

It was one heck of a breakup, and Kelly Osbourne's relationship with Luke Worrall was reportedly destroyed by a transgender model.

Worrall allegedly had an affair with 21-year-old Elle Schneider, who was born male and is currently undergoing gender reassignment.

Schneider told press, ?I had no idea what was going on [with Kelly]. He told me that everything with Kelly was over.?

But Osbourne and Worrall were trying to work their relationship, until Kelly found chat messages between Luke and Elle.

Elle explained, ?Luke immediately told her that I was just a friend. That he had nothing with me. But I guess she saw right through it. It was quite obvious through the messages that he was sending me that that was a lie."

50 Cent Denies Dating Chelsea Handler

Chelsea Handler may have Tweeted a photo of herself in bed with 50 Cent, but the two are definitely not a couple, according to the rapper-turned-actor.

When Access Hollywood's Maria Menounos asked 50 to set the dating rumor straight at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, he did just that.

And he said the two are not involved romantically.

"No, you could've asked Chelsea," he said. "She made that visible for everyone."

Probed again by Maria, who mentioned the late night host and the rapper's closeness of late, Mr. Cent laughed and said, "We're just good friends."

So why has Chelsea been talking about the star so much lately? "'Cause we're friends," 50 said. "That would be a good reason to talk about me."

Makes sense. But where's the fun in that logic.

According to TMZ, the next season of the ratings smash will take place in Italy. The network is currently scouting Italian shooting locations, and the cast will visit Vinny Guadagnino's relatives for some authentic Italian eats.

The trip abroad has apparently been in the works for two months -- that's how long ago execs began working on obtaining visas for the cast and crew, TMZ reports.

There was plenty of thanksgiving tonight when Natalie Portman win Best Actress at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, but a lot of it had more to do with Natalie’s ballooning waistline than with her amazing performance in Black Swan. Portman won the award over a group of stellar performers, including The Kids Are Alright’s Annette Benning, Rabbit Hole’s Nicole Kidman, Blue Valentine’s Michelle Williams, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s Noomi Rapace, and Winter’s Bone Jennifer Lawrence. The glowing Portman thanked her fellow nominees, but saved a special acknowledgment for Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky. “I met you 10 years ago in a HoJo in Times Square. You were classy then, you’re keeping it classy now,” Portman teased.
Elegant or not, the actress praised her boss for helping her move up unto a new pant size.� “I keep telling Darren, you made me very skinny and now you’re indirectly responsible for making me fat, since you introduced me to my love Benjamin Millepied,” Natalie joked. Luckily Darren’s not directly responsible, or Portman would have a lot of awkward explaining on her hands.

Rihanna becomes the latest name to be thrown into the hat for X Factor USA?

We wish Simon Cowell would just hurry up and announce who?s going to judge X Factor UK and USA now because this is starting to get really ridiculous.

So many names have already been banded around about who?ll be a judge on X Factor USA and the latest one to be thrown into the hat is Rihanna. An inside source told Look magazine:

"To get her on the show would give it real star power. Nicole Scherzinger and Cheryl Cole are also being considered for places on the judging panel, because they've got a proven track record of being great judges, but that doesn't rule Rihanna out.

"She has a massive appeal and a real edge to her. Simon knows she wouldn't be afraid to give her opinion."

We don?t doubt that at all. But please, let?s end this speculation now ? Simon, put us out of our misery won?t you?

'Ebert Presents at the Movies' Premiere Recap

Roger Ebert may have lost his voice due to complications from cancer of the thyroid and salivary glands, and the movie review show he pioneered with the late, great Gene Siskel may have been canceled. (Thumbs) Down, perhaps, but not out.

Ebert, 'At the Movies' and those all-powerful thumbs have been resurrected on PBS, making their return Friday in 'Ebert Presents at the Movies.' The show reflects in part the classic format -- two critics debating the latest releases -- and is even being filmed at the Chicago studios the first Siskel and Ebert movie review show was shot. Except this time, there are some new primary hosts: Associated Press film critic Christy Lemire and 24-year-old Ignatiy Vishnevetsky, a virtually unknown blogger Ebert personally plucked for hosting duties -- as well as fresh features and new guest contributors.

I've got to admit, I was so excited about the return of a show I've followed through all its iterations for 15 years, I practically plopped down on the couch thumbs extended upwards, and truth be told, I have nothing but thumbs up to give all around for this show, although I do have some notes.
