MTV Cancels 'The Buried Life'

'The Buried Life' logoIt's time to bid farewell to Penelope the big purple bus: MTV has cancelled 'The Buried Life.' The make-a-difference reality documentary series scored modest ratings for the network over two seasons, and 'Entertainment Weekly' reports that MTV "hopes to continue working with the team in another format." It's possible 'The Buried Life' could live on as a digital or online series.

'The Buried Life' was developed by four friends at university in British Columbia, Canada. Originally a feature-length documentary, they developed it with MTV as an inspirational TV series that could serve as an antidote to 'Jersey Shore' and official superficial reality programming on the network.

Basically a cross between the concepts explored in 'Pay it Forward' and 'The Bucket List,' the show's website describes the concept behind 'The Buried Life' as "Do cool sh*t and Help People. Four regular guys on a mission to complete a list of 100 things to do before you die and to help and encourage others to go after their lists."
