Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock?s newest film, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, is sure to be a tear-jerker. The movie, adapted from Jonathan Safran Foer?s best-selling novel, follows the story of a young boy searching for the lock that matches the mysterious key he found left behind by his father, who died in the September 11 attacks. Jonathan said of his novel, ?I wanted to tell a different kind of story, one that wasn't politicized. The book never talks about good or evil, and it never talks about why September 11 happened or how to prevent it ? even as they take up almost the entirety of the real world's conversation.?
The movie, starring big names like Sandra and Tom, also stars newcomer Thomas Horn, a 13-year-old who was discovered by producer Scott Rudin after winning Jeopardy! Teen Tournament in 2009! Reportedly when Thomas met Sandra, he said, ?Wow, I can't believe I'm acting with the biggest movie star in the world!" Tom teamed up once again for Extremely Loud with writer Eric Roth, who won the Academy Award for his adaptation of Forrest Gump ? arguably Tom?s most recognizable role. Now, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is generating its own Oscar buzz, and is quickly turning into a must-see for movie and literary buffs alike. The film is set to be released in January ? click here to see the just-released trailer!
